Obtain smooth edges on your cake tiers with ease with these 1/4" thick acrylic disks. One disk will go on top of your cake and the other will go underneath it.
Use the center hole to help center cake tiers on the disks by using a temporary dowel as you ice. If you do not chill your cakes before icing with the disks, you will need to put a temporary dowel through the disks and cake to make sure your layers do not shift.
We want to make sure that you are ordering the correct size disk for your specific cakes. Before you order, please make sure you measure your finished cakes and the bottom of your cake pans to prevent having to exchange your disks for a new size.
Our general rule of thumb is:
- .5" sizing (item # AD-EK-BE-SQ5H) For cakes that shrink LESS than 1/8" (or not at all,) AND you are NOT planning to cover with fondant, just with buttercream
- .25" sizing (item # AD-EK-BE-SQ25H) For cakes that shrink MORE than 1/8" OR your cakes do not shrink, but you are planning to cover with fondant
- Choose the size according to how much buttercream or ganache you want on the sides of your cake.
